About Holstein International

HISTORY

Jan Bierma and Han Hopman founded Holstein International in 1994. There was lots of demand for an international magazine for the dairy breeding industry featuring relevant information and professional photos, and the expertise and ambitions of the two founders made for a perfect match.

Since 1994 Holstein International has expanded from 4 employees, 3 languages, and about 1,000 subscribers to 18 employees, 7 freelance workers, 6 languages, and more than 33,000 readers. The entire production process (except for printing and distribution) is carried out from the head office at Stiens, in the Dutch province of Friesland.

Mission

Supplying unbiased information – worldwide accessible – to our readers, to enable them to improve their knowledge and the quality of their work within the Holstein industry.

LONG-TIME SUBSCRIBERS

'There are many reasons why I look forward to the arrival of Holstein International at the beginning of every month. After tearing the wrapping off I flick through to see which cow families & bulls are being featured & how they might help me achieve my breeding goals at Longmoor Holsteins. For many years now HI has been my trusted guide to better breeding decisions & better cows.'

Stuart Rogers

'Very interesting news on international cows. The world is a small place now, great read!'
